This week, we get to meet Zookeeper Dee! Aside from always being helpful on the forums, she has also been threatened by a panther, rescued a dog, and met the love of her life in Zoo World! Be sure to read on to discover more about Zookeeper Dee and you won’t believe how many Zoos she has now!
1. Where are you from?
Born and raised in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Now living in Phoenix, AZ.
2. How long have you been playing Zoo World?
I found zoo in September 2009. While playing I got bored and found help chat and started making friends with a group that was in there every day. Most of us from that group still believe in doing the work in Zoo yourself and not to expect everything handed to you. I found that I enjoyed helping people and after I finished my first Zoo, I did a second one. Then changes were made, so I did a third one. Long story short, this is my fifth zoo! The others don’t get the attention like they should.
3. What’s your favorite part of Zoo World?
My wonderful group of long time friends that I hope to meet some day. Also, helping people! I started doing that in chat and moved the forums when chat broke (get to work Facebook).
4. If you could be any animal, what would you be?
Wolf or dog, it’s a toss up.
5. What’s your favorite animal-related memory? (a trip to a zoo? a favorite pet?)
I have two stories. One is we have two great zoos here in Phoenix. At the World Wildlife Zoo they have the panther cage set up so there is a tree branch that the animal can go on and you can be under it. I was stalking the cat and it sprayed me and my son! We had to run for cover!
The other story is of two dogs. One is my baby girl of 15 yrs who I lost in September. The second is of the dog that came and stole our hearts. I had a pit bull and shepherd mix for 15 yrs. That dog had been to hell and back with me. She saw me through my substance abuse and was there for me when I got clean 13 yrs ago. She slept with me every night during those years. From the day I found her chasing cars to when she passed sleeping near me on the floor.
Now for our wolf mix. A week before pretty girl passed, we got home from work and it was a typical September summer morning with temperatures zooming up to 110. We pulled in the drive and she was laying on our front yard. She was hot, tired, thirsty, worn out and limping. We tried to find her owner but from day one she picked us as her owners. No one answered any ads we posted and now she’s a part of the family and very spoiled.
6. What are you passionate about?
My kids: two boys, aged 19 and 16. And Shilo, of course. As many know, I met the love of my life in zoo chat. Also, my wonderful group of crazy friends I met on Zoo and I will meet some day (I feel for where ever we’ll meet at, it will never be the same).
7. What’s your favorite quote and movie?
Quote: “Bite me” I even have it tattooed on me with stitch biting it.
Movie: The Boondock Saints
8. What makes the world go ’round?
The love of family, a good man and friends (that will help you hide the body).
Thank you for sharing with us a piece of your life, Zookeeper Dee. All of us Advocates appreciate your help and your love of the game. It’s great to see you on the forums helping all your fellow Zookeepers. I hope you keep your wonderful and sarcastic sense of humor and continue to make some of the funniest islands I’ve seen in Zoo! Best wishes to both you and Shilo, a couple of our own Zoo World lovebirds!
