Zookeeper of the Week 6/28: Zookeeper Tom

This week, we get to meet Zookeeper Tom! Aside being passionate about life, he is also a medical miracle!  Be sure to read on to discover more about Zookeeper Tom and find out what daring experience he survived and persevered through to be one of our great Zookeepers today!

1. Where are you from?
I live in Dayton, Ohio.

2. How long have you been playing Zoo World?
On April 25th 2009, I fell down a flight of stairs. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and shattered wrist, was expected to die any moment. I was in a coma for 30 days and underwent three brain surgeries, including a craniotomy. When I woke up I had to relearn many things: how to walk, talk, eat and drink. I did this in 33 days. When I was released I joined FB and started my Zoo on June 27th 2009.

3. What’s your favorite part of Zoo World?
The friends I’ve made is the best part of Zoo World for me.

4. If you could be any animal, what would you be?
I would probably be a bird, an eagle maybe. I like the freedom.

5. What’s your favorite animal-related memory? (a trip to a zoo? a favorite pet?)
My favorite animal memories are of my dog, Bandit. He was amazing.

6. What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about life!

7. What’s your favorite quote, food, music, movie, and book?
Quote: “Knowledge is realizing that the street is one-way, wisdom is looking both directions anyway.” The street is life.
Food: I love Mexican food
Music: All good music but I’m a precious metal head.
Movie: I love the old horror movies.
Book: The Stand and the Bible, though I’ve not finished it yet.

8. What makes the world go ’round?
I believe friendship and love make the rotation smoother.

Thank you for sharing with us a piece of your life, Zookeeper Tom! Your story of survival and strength to fight and carry on is inspiring. We’re glad you decided to join Facebook and start playing Zoo World. All your friends and the Zoo community are lucky to have you and I hope your belief in friendship and love keep your world spinnin’ smoothly for you!
