Zookeeper of the Week 7/12: Zookeeper Line

This week, we get to meet Zookeeper Line! Aside being an amazing cook and avid human rights advocate , she also organizes her Zoo by continents. Be sure to read on to discover more about Zookeeper Line and see which countries she has shared with us! Take a trip around the world this week with one single click!

I enclose 2 pictures of me, one taken on June 11, 2011 (in fact it is my wedding picture!) and one taken in my office in July 2010, one month after I finished my chemo.

1. Where are you from?
Montreal, Quebec, Canada

2. How long have you been playing Zoo World?
At least 18 months. I don’t remember the exact date.

3. What’s your favorite part of Zoo World?
Recreating countries or continents by regrouping the local animals and landmarks. Sometimes it can be quite subtle.

Island for Asia

Island for Europe

4. If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A river otter. They are graceful, they have a language and they know how to have fun and “laugh”. They seem to be one of the very few animals that play for the heck of it.

5. What’s your favorite animal-related memory? (a trip to a zoo? a favorite pet?)
While sightseeing in a big canoe (a rabaska, that can receive about 8 people), seeing a family of 3 river otters diving in the Jacques-Cartier River (a river running in a U-shaped Ice Age valley about 30 minutes north of Quebec City; at the time the nature was almost completely untouched) and coming to the surface and eating crayfish. It made a sound like eating popcorn. And they were “talking” to one another and “laughing” all the time. They were 10 ft. or less away. I also saw shooting stars that night… and Skylab on its orbit. The valley was deep and blocking city lights very effectively so we could see a lot just with good binoculars.

6. What are you passionate about?
Human rights, democracy, the environment, the beauty of nature, endangered species especially whales, roses, travelling… and cooking. I am told I am a good cook :).

7. What’s your favorite quote, food, music, movie, and book?
Quote: The quote that is on my FB profile reads (in 3 languages): ““We should not believe in traditions because they were transmitted from Antiquity and neither should we believe simply because of the authority of our masters or teachers. But we can apply a writing, a doctrine or a statement when the proper understanding we have of it and our inner experience confirm them. Be your own torch, your own refuge, your own Master…” – Buddha”
Food: Smoked salmon
Music: I love all kinds of stuff from classical to Led Zeppelin and jazz. Basically I’m an old rocker.
Movie: Any Star trek but especially The Search for Spock.
Book: I have a book of quotes by Martin Luther King I really cherish.

8. What makes the world go ’round?
Love! I wish. Unfortunately, too often, it is money and power… And violence 😦

Thank you for sharing with us a piece of your life, Zookeeper Line! It great to hear someone so passionate about life, human rights, and animals participate in Zookeeper of the Week! We applaud your strength and courage to overcome chemo and continue to become a part of our community. We are lucky to have someone so globally aware and beautiful (inside and out!) playing our game. Thank you for your time and I hope love will continue to keep your own world spinnin’!
