Next on our tour? Costa Rica!

Costa Rica is often ranked as a world’s top destination for surfing, fishing, diving, and mountain hiking. On our stop here, you’re in for an adventure while surrounded by sun, beaches, mountains, and volcanoes. Be prepared to get lost in Costa Rican rain forests and you’ll soon discover why Costa Rica literally translates to the “Rich Coast” in Spanish.

National Parks and Environmental Protection areas make up for 25% of the total land in Costa Rica. This means, Zookeepers, we’ve arrived at a perfect place to explore and learn about new animals! Costa Rica is home to more than 5% of the world’s biodiversity. This means there are more than 200 species of mammals, 9,000 species of plants, and 34,000 species of insects (just to name a few) that call Costa Rica their home. Let’s keep on learning a bit more about this unique country before we show you what animals, kiosks and decorations will show up in your Zoo!

Costa Rica is not only rich in landscape, but also culture and history. Costa Rica prides itself on being the “Land of Peace” as they have had over 100 years of political stability and is the only country without an army or military of any kind. In 1949, they decided to abolish their National Army to invest their resources more in education and other improvements to benefit the people.
